How to Fix “Out of Sync” Issue with Electra (ECA) Wallet for Windows

Replace Peers.dat For Faster Syncing

While the Electra.conf stores all known node addresses (both the good ones and bad ones), the Peers.dat stores active connections in the network. By replacing this alone, your wallet will sync in about an hour when left open.

Steps

1. Close the wallet

2. Download peers.dat

3. Press the Windows key + R

4. Type %appdata%\Electra and click OK or press Enter

5. Delete the peers.dat currently in Electra

6. Then copy the peers.dat you downloaded into this folder

7. Restart the wallet and wait an hour (+/-) for it to sync with the network.

*ECA will appear in wallet after the synchronization is complete

**If the peers.dat is still 2kb then please follow the steps again. Peers.dat should be higher than 400kb.

How to Add Nodes

It is highly recommended that you complete the above process first to get a good list of nodes. If you need more, use this process to add nodes to your Electra.conf file

1) Make sure your Electra wallet is closed

2) Navigate to your Electra folder

3) Right-click your Electra.conf file and choose “Open” “Choose Application…”

Next…

  1. Choose Notepad
  2. Now that your Electra.conf file is open, you are ready to add nodes
  3. Open a web browser and navigate to https://www.electraexplorer.com/status
NOTE: The following steps can be taken if you are looking for specific addnodes otherwise skip to step 10
  4. On this list search for connections that are close to you. Maybe the next country over or a neighboring state. The more you select, the better your chances of more connections being made
  5. Copy the ip address(es) you would like to use. The ip address is the column listed as Address
  6. Paste that address at the end of your Electra.conf file in this format:
    addnode=:5817
    Example: addnode=123.456.789.012:5817
  7. NOTE: Only do this step if you did not do steps 7 through 9
On the right side of the page, copy all the addnodes in the box and paste them over your current addnodes or add them to your current addnodes in your Electra.conf file
  8. Once you are done adding all the nodes you want, save your file as the same name format (File → Save) to be safe “Electra.conf”
  9. Reopen your Electra wallet and wait a few minutes for it to sync

Delete Txleveldb Folder

  1. Make sure your Electra wallet is closed
  2. Navigate to your Electra folder
    A shortcut you can use is press Shift ⇧ + Command ⌘ + G
  3. Type in the box “~/Library/Application Support/Electra” without quotes and press “Enter”
  4. This will bring up your Electra folder
  5. Find the folder labeled “txleveldb” and delete it
You can click on it and press delete on your keyboard or right click on the txleveldb folder and choose Delete
  6. Now that this is done, restart your wallet and wait a few minutes for it to start syncing

Windows Firewall Allow Access

5. Click “Allow an app through firewall”

6. Navigate list of programs for Electra Desktop.exe and Electrad-Windows.exe

7. For any lines with the above text, ensure the check box on the left of the name is “checked” and ensure both public and private boxes are “checked”

8. If changes are needed, click “Change Settings” button (need Administrator privileges), make changes, and click “OK”

9. Reopen the wallet and see if syncing starts after a few minutes
